Ryer Becker is an MS student working with Dr. Robert Keefe at the University of Idaho Forest Operations Research Lab. His role in BANR is to work with Dr. Keefe, Dr. Nate Anderson and Dr. Woody Chung as part of the Feedstock Logistics team. His research is focused on evaluating the potential for using new ground-based harvesting equipment, self-leveling shovel harvesters, to harvest beetle-kill timber on moderate to steep slopes, as a substitute for conventional cable systems. This work is connected closely with evaluation of soil and site impacts led by the Environmental Impacts team.
